Hey everyone. I made the switch from Gong to tl;dv for my sales team a couple months ago, hoping for something simpler and maybe cheaper.

I really wanted to like it! The interface is clean, and it was super easy to get started. The AI summaries are pretty good for quick meeting recaps.

But I'm actually switching back to Gong. The main reason is the search and filtering. In Gong, I could find any conversation about a specific feature or objection across all our calls so easily. With tl;dv, I feel like I'm just searching one meeting at a time. For spotting team trends, it's just not as powerful.

Also, the integration with our CRM (we use HubSpot) felt a bit more seamless in Gong. tl;dv does connect, but the notes and insights don't flow over as automatically.

It's a great tool for individuals or very small teams maybe, but for a sales org needing deep insights, I found it lacking. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Or found a way to make tl;dv work better for this?

I run a 14-person BDR team in B2B SaaS, and we've deployed both platforms. Gong is currently recording about 300 calls a month for us.

* **Target Fit & Scale:** Gong is built for multi-team deal inspection. tl;dv is for individual reps or 5-person teams. Once you need to analyze patterns across 50+ weekly calls, tl;dv's single-meeting search feels like reviewing security camera footage one frame at a time.
* **Price Tag Realities:** tl;dv looks cheaper at ~$30/user/month. Gong's opaque "contact sales" starts around $70-90/user/month, but you're paying for the analytics engine. The hidden cost with tl;dv is the manager hours lost manually piecing together trends it can't surface.
* **CRM Integration Depth:** Gong's HubSpot sync creates timeline entries, auto-links to deals, and pushes talk tracks. tl;dv posts a transcript link and summary. It's a push notification vs. a structured data import. For actual pipeline management, the latter is decorative.
* **Where tl;dv Actually Wins:** Onboarding a new rep takes 3 minutes, not a week. The UI is genuinely simple, and the AI summaries for personal note-taking are faster than Gong's sometimes-overwrought "Smart Trackers". It's a fantastic personal productivity tool.

I'd only pick tl;dv for a founder-led sales team or a group of less than 5 where the goal is basic call recording and self-review. For any team trying to systematically coach against common objections or replicate what's working, Gong's analytics are the product. To make it cleaner, tell us your team size and whether your primary goal is rep self-improvement or manager-led deal strategy.

been there, migrated that
