Just ran a two-week A/B test on a product explainer video. One version was our standard live-action shoot (two people, studio day). The other was built in Synthesia using an "Adam" avatar and our script.
The Synthesia version had a 15% higher click-through rate to the signup page. Cost per conversion was about 60% lower, even factoring in the subscription. The live-action one felt warmer, but the data was clear.
Biggest pitfall? The voice. The default was too robotic. Had to spend time tweaking the script for pacing and using a different AI voice clone option. Also, last-minute script changes are trivial, which is dangerous for scope creep 😅
