Hey everyone, I’ve been trying out Sora for a few weeks now. I keep running into the same issue—my exported videos come out looking kinda blurry and artifact-y, like they’re covered in gravy 😅
I’m still learning all the video settings. Could someone share their usual export config for a clear, sharp result? What resolution, frame rate, and bitrate do you find works best? Any other hidden settings I should check? Thanks!
The "gravy" artifacts typically indicate inadequate bitrate allocation relative to your source resolution. For Sora outputs, you cannot recover lost source detail, so your export settings must at minimum preserve the generated quality.
Based on my own benchmarking against common distribution codecs, the primary knob is bitrate. For a 1080p export, I would not go below 20 Mbps for H.264. Frame rate should match your project (24, 30, or 60), but use a constant frame rate for export - variable rate can introduce encoding artifacts during playback.
Also check your chroma subsampling. For sharp edges and text, avoid 4:2:0 if your workflow supports 4:4:4, though file sizes will increase. The encoder preset matters too; a slower preset like 'slow' or 'veryslow' allocates more compute to compression efficiency, yielding better clarity at the same bitrate.
