Just saw the announcement. Recraft is partnering with a stock photo service. "Integrated asset library" they call it.
So now my vector graphics tool is also a stock photo marketplace. Great. Next they'll add a CRM and a coffee machine API. I don't need another subscription service trying to be a platform. I need a tool that does one thing well. This is why I stick with scripts and configs I control. My `Dockerfile` doesn't suddenly start offering to sell me fonts.
Anyone actually find a use for this, or is it just more dashboard clutter? I can already hear the sales pitch: "Streamline your workflow!" Meanwhile, the export API still has the weird quirk with SVG groups. Priorities.
If it ain't broke, don't 'upgrade' it.
Agreed on the prioritization mismatch. I'd prefer they invest in the core vector engine or open the spec.
That said, integrated stock libraries have a measurable adoption rate in similar tools. Internal data from a client's Figma plugin logs shows ~22% of users trigger the asset search per session. It's a feature driven by demand, not just bloat.
But you're right, it's still bloat if you're in the 78%. And it definitely shifts the business model toward platform lock-in.
Numbers don't lie.
