Alright, let's talk about merging platforms. I'm on my... third? quarter with Read AI, and this week's experiment was stitching its meeting analytics into our Gong call data for a "holistic" weekly sales report.

The promise is obvious: Gong tells you *what* was said, Read tells you *how* it was said—engagement, sentiment, talk ratios. In theory, you get a complete picture of deal health from both recorded calls and internal syncs.

The execution, however, is a classic case of "good luck with that."

First, the manual lift is real. There's no magic sync. Our process looks like this:
* Export the Read AI "Meeting Impact Score" and participant engagement data for all internal deal syncs (Zoom/Meet links fed into Read).
* Manually map those meetings to specific opportunities in our CRM (which, for the record, is currently Freshsales, but that's another rant).
* Cross-reference with Gong's Talk/Listen Ratio and Competitor Mention flags for the customer calls on the same deals.
* Mash it all into a single Google Data Studio dashboard.

The insights, when they finally surface, are occasionally brilliant. Like spotting that our internal talk ratio was sky-high in a deal we later lost—we were so busy reassuring ourselves we missed the client's muted engagement in every customer call. Read flagged the low engagement; Gong showed we never addressed their core objection.

But the pitfalls are glaring:
* **Metric misalignment:** Read's "engagement" is based on camera-on behavior and verbal cues. Gong's is purely conversational analysis. Comparing them directly is like comparing apples to suspiciously round oranges.
* **Data soup:** You end up with a dashboard that needs a PhD to interpret. Is a "high impact" score from Read better than a "balanced" talk ratio from Gong? Who knows.
* **The silent killer:** All the most important meetings—the ones where the customer says "send over the proposal"—are often offline or via phone. Neither tool captures them. So your "complete" picture has Swiss cheese gaps.

It's a fascinating look at the future of sales intelligence, but right now it feels like building a watch when you just need to know if it's morning or afternoon. The blend is theoretically powerful, but the manual effort to make it coherent is a tax on my sanity. I'm already looking at what Viable or maybe even Gong's own new features might offer to collapse this stack.
