I've been working with a client who uses MeetGeek for recording sales discovery calls, but they needed the summaries and action items to flow directly into their custom Slack sales channel, not just the generic #meetgeek one. The out-of-the-box Slack integration is okay, but it lacked the specific formatting and routing we wanted.
So, I rolled up my sleeves and used MeetGeek's API to build a custom workflow. The goal was to:
* Listen for the `meeting.summary.ready` webhook event.
* Fetch the full transcript and AI summary via the API.
* Parse the action items and key quotes.
* Post a formatted message to a dedicated Slack channel using a webhook, tagging the relevant sales rep and highlighting deal stage.
The API is fairly straightforward (RESTful, decent docs). The main work was in mapping the meeting data to their internal Slack format and adding logic to filter for only "Discovery" type meetings.
**Initial results?** Pretty solid. The sales team now gets a clean, actionable summary in their workflow within 2 minutes of the meeting ending. It's reduced the "where are the notes?" questions.
**A few observations for anyone considering this:**
* The webhook payload is minimal (just meeting ID). You must then call the `/meetings/{id}` endpoint to get everything you need.
* The AI summary JSON is comprehensive, but you'll want to extract the specific sections (like "action_items") for your use case.
* Rate limiting hasn't been an issue for our volume, but keep an eye on it if you're processing a high number of daily meetings.
Has anyone else built custom integrations with their API? I'm curious if you ran into any data formatting quirks or found clever uses for the raw transcript data beyond the summary.
