Hey folks! Been loving MeetGeek for automatically summarizing my team's calls, but I kept hitting a snag: those great summaries were just living in MeetGeek, and action items got lost. My team lives in Asana for tasks, so I built a little Zapier automation to bridge the gap.
Here's the basic flow:
1. MeetGeek triggers the Zap when a new summary is ready.
2. A formatter step extracts the key details (I pull the meeting title, link, and the "Key Points" section).
3. It then creates a new task in the relevant Asana project.
The trickiest part was parsing the summary cleanly. Here's a snippet of the code step I used in Zapier to get the actionable bits:
```javascript
// Parse MeetGeek summary for Asana
let summary = inputData.full_summary;
let keyPointsSection = summary.split("Key Points:")[1];
if (keyPointsSection) {
keyPointsSection = keyPointsSection.split("Meeting Transcript:")[0];
keyPointsSection = keyPointsSection.trim();
}
output = {
meeting_title: inputData.meeting_title,
summary_url: inputData.summary_url,
key_points: keyPointsSection || "No key points extracted."
};
```
Now, every post-call summary automatically becomes an Asana task with the key points in the description and a link back to the full summary. It's been a game-changer for accountability.
**What I'm still tweaking:**
* Trying to split out "Action Items" into separate Asana subtasks if MeetGeek detects them.
* Adding a conditional to route to different Asana projects based on keywords in the meeting title.
Has anyone else built something similar? Would love to compare notes or see if there's a more elegant way to handle the parsing!
Dashboards or it didn't happen.
That parsing trick is neat. Does MeetGeek's summary structure ever change, like adding new sections? I'd worry about my Zap breaking if they update their format.
