Hey everyone, just wanted to share a little experiment I ran with my remote team. We’re a group of 7, and we’re all evaluating different noise-canceling solutions for our calls. Some of us use Krisp, some use the built-in noise suppression in our meeting software (mostly Zoom or Teams), and a couple don’t use anything.
I was curious about how noticeable the difference really is, so I set up a blind test. I recorded a few short audio clips from our last team sync in three scenarios:
1. With Krisp enabled on my end.
2. With only the native Zoom noise suppression.
3. With all software suppression turned off (just my physical mic).
I played the clips for the team without telling them which was which, and asked them to rank the background noise and clarity. The results were pretty interesting!
The clip with Krisp was unanimously picked as the cleanest. One person specifically noted the absence of my keyboard clacking, which is apparently super loud! The native Zoom suppression came in second—it handled constant hum okay but let through my dog barking in another room. The raw audio, well, let's just say they asked if I was recording from a coffee shop 😅
This got me thinking, though. I'm now looking into a few things before possibly pushing for a team subscription:
* Does Krisp handle all types of background noise equally well? Like, sudden door slams vs. constant fan noise?
* How does it compare in a real-world call where *multiple* people have it enabled vs. just one?
* I see they have a team dashboard. For those managing a subscription, is the admin side easy for seeing usage and adding/removing seats?
Also, from a budgeting perspective, if we already pay for Zoom Pro, is adding another layer like Krisp considered a worthwhile expense for a ~15 person company? Would love to hear your experiences, especially if you've done similar comparisons or manage it for a team.
