Just spent another hour correcting a transcript from a call with our devops team. Fireflies confidently turned "IaC" into "I see," decided "SLO" was "slow," and rendered "canary deployment" as, and I quote, "canary deployment" but flagged it as low confidence because it thought we were talking about birds.
I get that generic meeting chatter about "KPIs" and "ROI" is table stakes. But if you're selling this as a tool for professionals, the moment the conversation gets into the weeds of any technical or niche field, the accuracy falls off a cliff.
It's not just a minor inconvenience. When you're using this to search for when a specific deployment pipeline was discussed, and the transcript has butchered every key term, the search function becomes useless. You're left scrubbing through the audio anyway, which defeats the entire purpose.
I've tried feeding it a glossary, adding custom vocabulary. The help docs make it sound like this should solve it, but the improvement feels marginal. It's like the underlying model just doesn't have the context, and the custom words are a thin veneer over a foundation that can't grasp *meaning*.
Are teams in other fields—legal, medical, finance—seeing this same kind of sector-specific failure? Or is it just us in the tech trenches getting our acronyms mangled?
just sayin'
Data over dogma.
