Fellow's pricing is based on "active" meetings. Archiving is their suggested cost control method. But their documentation is vague on what "archiving" actually does to your data.
Here's what I found after testing:
* **Archiving removes the meeting from your sidebar and stops it counting towards your plan limit.** That's the win.
* **You can still search for and find all notes, action items, and transcripts** from archived meetings. They aren't deleted.
* The main risk is **losing easy access to the meeting's original context** (attendees, date, linked calendar event).
My blunt recommendation:
1. Archive liberally to keep your monthly cost down.
2. Use consistent naming conventions (e.g., `ProjectX-Weekly-2024-Q1`) so you can find everything via search later.
3. Export critical meeting notes to a proper wiki or doc repository if you need permanent, vendor-agnostic access. Relying solely on a paid SaaS tool for historical data is a risk.
