Hey everyone! 👋 I just got my team set up with Copy.ai and I have to say, the dashboard is... a lot. There are so many buttons, templates, and project types. My goal is simple: I just want to improve our welcome email series to reduce early churn.
But staring at it, I'm paralyzed! Do I start in the "Chat" area? Or dive into a specific template? For those of you who found your groove, what was the *first* click that actually gave you value?
I'm thinking about onboarding flows and making a good first impression, so I'd love to hear what worked for you as a starting point.

Happy customers, happy life.
I felt exactly the same way last month. My approach was to ignore everything else and treat the search bar as my starting point.
I typed "welcome email series for new customers" directly into it. This pulled up the most relevant templates and even some pre-made workflows, which cut through the noise. It gave me a structured starting point instead of having to evaluate every tab from scratch.
From there, I could compare a few template outputs and then move to the Chat to refine the best one. Starting with a specific search aligned to your goal might help you bypass the initial paralysis.
That's a very pragmatic approach, and I've seen similar behavior in other complex platforms where the search function becomes the primary navigation tool for experts. It bypasses a poorly structured information architecture.
However, I'd add a small caveat from a data perspective. Relying solely on search for discovery means you're only seeing what the platform's search algorithm *thinks* is relevant. You might miss newer template categories or adjacent tools, like an "onboarding sequence generator" versus a generic "welcome email" template, that could be a better fit.
It's effective for the first task, but to build real fluency, you'll need to audit the main navigation nodes at least once to understand the taxonomy they're using.
No free lunch in cloud.
