I've been using Continue for a few months now, mostly during my latest CRM migration project (we're moving from a heavily customized Zoho instance to HubSpot, pray for me 😅). It's been a lifesaver for generating scripts and parsing through API docs.
But this latest VS Code extension update... the UI overhaul has me completely disoriented. It feels like when Salesforce rolls out a new Lightning Experience feature and moves every single button you use daily. My muscle memory is gone!
Specifically, what's driving me nuts:
* The chat window is now this persistent sidebar that *refuses* to minimize fully. I used to summon it with a shortcut, get my answer, and dismiss it to focus. Now it's always *there*, taking up precious screen real estate I need for my schema comparisons.
* They've moved the "Ask a question about this code" context option. It used to be right there in the right-click menu. Now I have to highlight, click a tiny icon that appears on hover (which my mouse doesn't always trigger), or use a different keyboard shortcut I haven't memorized yet.
* The tone of the responses feels... different? Maybe it's just the new UI coloring, but the text in the chat looks less distinct from my code now. I've had a few moments where I almost copied an AI explanation into my migration script.
I get that tools need to evolve—heck, I live in the world of RevOps where platforms change their workflows quarterly. But this feels like a change for change's sake, not for usability. I'm spending more time fighting the interface than being productive.
Has anyone else updated yet? Are you loving it? Did you find some hidden setting to revert to a more classic view? I'm clinging to the hope there's a config tweak I've missed. I just got my automation scripts working smoothly, and now my primary tool is throwing me curveballs.
