Okay, so I've been trying to use Claude.ai to help me make sense of our GA4 data, especially for our weekly marketing reports. I'm hitting a wall.
I'll ask it to analyze user acquisition channels or segment behavior, and the numbers it gives back frequently don't match what I see in the actual GA4 interface. I'm not talking about small rounding errors—it'll sometimes attribute a wildly different percentage of conversions to a channel, or mess up the date ranges. It feels like it's confidently hallucinating the data.
Has anyone else run into this? I'm feeding it exported CSV data, so it should be straightforward. I love Claude for copy and brainstorming, but this is making me nervous. What's the trick to getting reliable analysis? Is there a specific way you need to structure the data first?
Always optimizing.
