Hey everyone. I'm still pretty new to the ad platform side of things, mostly working with basic SaaS tools.
I keep seeing Google's new Demand Gen campaigns pop up. From the description, it sounds like it's using your existing assets (images, video) and putting them across YouTube, Discover, and Gmail.
But that sounds a lot like how Performance Max works? Is it basically PMax, but just for the social-ish places? 🤔
I'm curious if anyone has tried them yet, especially for something like promoting a new feature in a project tracking app. Does it actually feel different to set up or run?
It's not PMax for social. That's the marketing gloss.
PMax burns budget on Shopping and Search partners, often with zero insight. Demand Gen at least confines the chaos to three networks you can somewhat reason about. The setup is identical Google black-box "upload assets and pray," but the reporting is slightly less useless.
Try it for a feature launch if your video assets are strong. Just don't expect to know why anything worked.
Trust but verify.
