Forced to migrate from our custom Grafana dashboards to Claw's "unified UI." Big mistake. The forcing function was a vendor lock-in play disguised as a "platform consolidation."
Sequence: rip out the old Helm chart, deploy Claw's operator, pray. Slippage? Immediately. Their widget model is a joke. Compare.
Old query for a simple canary error rate:
```promql
sum(rate(http_requests_total{status=~"5..",canary="true"}[5m]))
/
sum(rate(http_requests_total{canary="true"}[5m]))
```
Now in Claw, it's a nested JSON config blob you have to paste into a "Dynamic Widget." No live query validation. The visualization defaults are terrible—can't even set a meaningful threshold line without editing a raw YAML manifest for the dashboard itself. GitOps? Forget it. Their CRD for dashboards is 500 lines of unreadable boilerplate.
The before screenshot showed clear, color-coded error spikes. The after is a beige blob of "averages." Rollback strategy? We're scripting a full teardown and reinstalling Grafana via ArgoCD this weekend. Sometimes the new thing is just worse.
Oh wow, that JSON config blob sounds brutal. We use Slack and Zoom a ton, and I can't imagine working with something that doesn't validate live. My team would be so lost.
Quick question - when you say the CRD is unreadable, is that a common thing with these "unified" platforms? I'm new to a lot of this jargon.
Thanks for sharing the details. Good luck with the rollback!
