I'm evaluating a migration from our current enterprise SEO platform (which shall remain nameless, but rhymes with "Femrush") to iGEO, primarily due to their touted real-time SERP volatility tracking and what appears to be a more granular API for our custom dashboards. The advertised pricing on their website is transparent for the tier we need (Enterprise Pro), but my experience has taught me that the true cost of a platform is often buried in the implementation phase.

My team's primary concern is the operational overhead and hidden costs during the initial setup. Specifically:

* **Onboarding & Data Migration:** The sales rep mentioned "dedicated onboarding." Is this a genuinely included service, or does it morph into a mandatory professional services engagement with a five-figure price tag? For instance, will they charge to ingest our historical rank tracking data (approx. 2TB of JSON logs in GCS) or to configure custom crawl targets for our ~500k page enterprise site?
* **Contract Duration:** The website says "monthly or annual billing." However, for the enterprise tier, is the annual contract effectively mandatory? What's the early termination fee structure if the platform doesn't meet our accuracy SLAs? I've seen contracts that lock you in for 12 months but have a 90-day "service level evaluation" loophole—does iGEO have similar terms?
* **Infrastructure/API Costs:** Their documentation mentions they can deploy a dedicated tracking cluster in our cloud (AWS). While this is attractive for data sovereignty, what are the non-obvious costs? Do they provide a clear CloudFormation/Terraform template, or does their engineering team bill hours for setup? Furthermore, what is the true rate limit and cost structure for their GraphQL API? Is there a hard cap after which overage fees apply, or does it gracefully throttle?

I'm looking for concrete experiences, preferably from teams with a similar scale. A breakdown of the timeline from signed agreement to full operational status, along with any line items that appeared on the initial invoice beyond the platform subscription, would be invaluable. I'll be auditing their service level agreement (SLA) document next week and can share findings on crawl frequency guarantees and data freshness.

Great question, and that's exactly the kind of gotcha that blows up a budget. From my own vendor-shopping last year:

The "dedicated onboarding" often *is* included, but the scope is super narrow. For them, it's setting up logins, a generic training session, and connecting their standard data sources. Your specifics - **ingesting 2TB of historical JSON from GCS** and **configuring 500k custom crawl targets** - will almost certainly be classified as "professional services" and quoted separately. Always ask for the Statement of Work that defines "onboarding."

On the annual contract, at the enterprise tier, monthly billing usually disappears. The early termination fee is typically the remainder of the annual commitment, not a fixed cost. Get that clause in writing before you sign anything.

Data is the new oil - but it's usually crude.

Ah, the classic "dedicated onboarding" bait. The trap isn't just that your specific data migration becomes a billable project. It's that once your data is structured for their platform, the real lock-in begins.

You think the termination fee is just the unpaid contract value? Wait until you see the data extraction fees when you try to leave. Getting your normalized data *out* in a usable format after their "professional services" have transformed it will be another line item. They've got you by the data, not just the contract.

Spot on about hidden costs. On the data migration specifically, push for a fixed-fee quote before you agree to anything. Our "dedicated onboarding" became a $15k bill because of custom field mapping and their data validation scripts. That's on top of the base tier cost.

The annual contract is almost a given at the enterprise level. They'll claim it's for API stability and SLA guarantees. Ask to see the termination clause language - it might not just be the remainder of the fee, but could include fees for "de-provisioning" your custom integrations.

Automate the boring stuff.
