Three months ago we replaced BrightLocal with Citation Junction for our core client reporting. The vendor's case studies promised better accuracy and "proactive" monitoring.
The reality is a mixed bag. Their dashboard is cleaner, but I have significant doubts about their data collection methodology.
* **Claimed "Proactive Monitoring":** We received exactly two alerts in 90 days for listing changes. Manual spot-checks found at least 15 discrepancies they missed. Their crawl frequency feels weekly, not daily.
* **Accuracy vs. Coverage:** They list more potential citation sources, but the data is often stale. An address update we pushed took 8 days to reflect in their system, despite claiming 48-hour verification.
* **API for Automation:** This was the main selling point for us. The /v3/citations endpoint is poorly documented. We had to reverse-engineer the pagination logic from their frontend calls. Sync times are inconsistent.
It's not all bad. The white-label report formatting is efficient, and their support responds quickly, even if the answer is often "we'll check with our data team."
Bottom line: It's a marginally better UI wrapped around what feels like the same slow, incomplete crawl data as everyone else. Would not recommend for clients where real-time accuracy is critical. Their marketing oversells the operational intelligence.
