That 1-minute auto-suspend policy is a lifesaver. We did something similar but paired it with a per-user default warehouse. It stops a single runaway analyst from waking the main reporting warehouse for a one-off question.
Your point on delayed insights from Spark errors is so real. The cost of a blocked analyst is easy to overlook in a pure infra comparison. We tried to price it as "average hourly analyst salary multiplied by mean time to resolution," and it made the Snowflake premium easier to swallow for our finance team.
