Hey folks. Pricing for analytics platforms can feel like a black box. You get a custom quote, but is it fair? How do you even benchmark?
Here’s what’s worked for me and others:
* **This subforum** is a great start. Search for your tool (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude, Heap) and see if anyone has shared anonymized ranges.
* **Talk to your network.** Former colleagues at other companies are often willing to share ballpark numbers, especially if you reciprocate.
* **Key pricing levers** to compare:
* Monthly Tracked Users (MTU) or events volume
* Number of seats/dashboards
* Contract length (big discounts for annual)
* Add-ons like SSO, data retention, or enterprise features
The goal isn't to find the exact number, but to understand the brackets. A 50-person startup paying $25k/year for Product X sets a useful anchor.
What methods have you all used? Any success stories (or horror stories) to share?
