* **Dependency Management for Complex Processes:** Their projects often involve multi-stage approvals, regulatory gates, and hand-offs between compliance, legal, and trading desks. The tool must visually model these critical path dependencies in a way that is clear and can be dynamically updated without breaking the chain of accountability.
* **Reporting and Integration with BI Stack:** While the tool will have its own reporting, the ability to cleanly export structured data (or connect via API) to external BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is essential. They need to build enterprise dashboards that combine project status with financial data from other systems.
* **Guest Access and Vendor Management:** They frequently collaborate with external auditors and legal counsel. The tool must allow for secure, highly restricted guest access at a reasonable price point, as paying full seat licenses for infrequent external users is not viable.
Given the scale and constraints, I am skeptical that mainstream tools advertised for "teams of all sizes" can handle this without significant customization or third-party add-ons, which then complicates the compliance picture. I am particularly interested in concrete experiences regarding:
* How tools like Asana Enterprise, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project Online, or even Jira Align handle the audit log requirements and permission schemas for financial controls.
* The real-world limitations of their dependency engines when dealing with hundreds of interconnected tasks across multiple teams.
* The practicality and cost of their guest access features at the tier required for 300 full-time users.
My natural inclination is to evaluate them as data sources, but I recognize the operational and compliance layers are the primary filters here. Any insights from those who have implemented or administrated similar large-scale deployments in regulated industries would be greatly appreciated.
