Hey everyone! I’m still pretty new to the data analytics world, so I haven’t sat through *too* many demos yet, but I’m already fascinated (and a little terrified) by the whole vendor presentation process. I’ve heard some legendary horror stories from senior folks on my team.
I’m curious about your experiences! What makes a demo go from "okay" to "unforgettably bad"?
For example, in one of my first weeks, I joined a demo for a new BI tool. The presenter spent **45 minutes** on their company's history and vision, without even logging into the actual product. When they finally did, it was just a pre-recorded video that kept freezing 😅. We had so many specific questions about how it would handle our Looker blocks and custom SQL, but we got zero real answers.
So, I'd love to learn from your stories:
* What's the absolute worst vendor demo you've endured?
* What was the biggest red flag that told you it was going off the rails?
* Any funny or cringe-worthy moments that stuck with you?
I'm trying to build a mental checklist of what to watch for, so any detailed walkthroughs of your experiences would be super helpful!
