Just saw the news where Claw's CEO was talking up "cost transparency" as their big differentiator. Honestly, my CRM-hopping instincts are tingling with skepticism. 🧐
We've heard this before from so many SaaS platforms, especially in observability. "Transparent pricing" often just means a clearer breakdown of how you're about to get nickel-and-dimed for every GB ingested, every million spans, every custom dashboard. It's not the same as *cost control*.
From my world, I compare it to the shift from Salesforce's per-user model to platforms that charge based on "records" or "actions." More transparency? Maybe. But it just changes *what* spikes your bill, not necessarily *reduces* it.
So for observability:
* Does "transparency" mean they'll actually help me identify and cut waste, like noisy debug logs or underused high-cardinality tags?
* Or is it just a better invoice that shows my ingestion skyrocketed during that one traffic spike?
* What tools do they *actually* provide to *act* on that transparency? Granular filtering, sampling controls, or just alerts that I'm about to blow my budget?
I'm curious if anyone has dug into their actual feature set yet. Is this real, or just marketing speak for "you'll see the charges more clearly before you get the bill"?
