For the same customer segment and product, I'll get a brilliant, punchy subject line one time, and a generic, slightly off-topic one the next. The inconsistency makes it impossible to automate, even with detailed system prompts and temperature tuning. My A/B test framework is getting noisy data because the control and variant aren't starting from a consistent baseline.
Here's a quick comparison from my last test run for a "cart abandon" workflow:
* **Prompt:** "Write a playful, urgent subject line for a user who left hiking boots in their cart. Max 60 chars."
* **Run 1:** "Your trail is waiting! ⛰ Grab your boots now." (Great!)
* **Run 2:** "Don't forget your items. Complete your purchase." (Generic, misses the tone.)
* **Run 3:** "Hiking boots are still in your cart. Check out now." (Better, but still flat.)
System prompt was the same, temp set to 0.3. Has anyone else found reliable parameters for more deterministic outputs with Mixtral on Groq for creative tasks? Or is this just a trade-off for the raw speed?
I'm also curious if others have compared this to, say, Anthropic's Claude Haiku or even OpenAI's GPT-3.5-Turbo for similar cost+latency+consistency sweet spots. My spreadsheet is ready for more data points!
