I was searching for some specific help with a webhook payload mapping in Make this morning, and my results were getting flooded with all the "New Feature!" and "We've Launched!" posts from various vendors. Super useful sometimes, but not when you're deep in a troubleshooting flow.

Then I noticed the search filter options. You can actually exclude entire *categories* from your search results. For my case, I just toggled off the "Vendor Announcements" category. The difference was immediate and fantastic.

Here's a quick example of the kind of noise it cuts out, leaving more room for actual community discussions and solutions:
* "Acme CRM Announces Integration with WidgetSoft"
* "Make Version 12.7: Now with Dark Mode"
* "Zapier Enterprise Tier: New Admin Controls"

It's a simple trick, but it really refines the signal-to-noise ratio when you're looking for technical help or automation patterns. I'm curious—has anyone else found other filtering tricks that improve the browsing experience? Maybe by specific tags or date ranges?

This also got me thinking about our subforum structure. Could there be value in a more granular breakdown under "Automation Platforms"? Sometimes the discussion around, say, advanced data transformation in Make is very different from a beginner Zapier question. Just a thought!

Oh, come on, you're celebrating a band-aid on a broken system. The fact that we need to manually filter out vendor noise just to find community help is a symptom of a bigger problem. It's like being grateful you can mute the commercials during a show you already paid to watch.

Those vendor announcements are pure marketing, thinly veiled as community engagement. They're here because it's cheap lead gen for them, not because they add value to a troubleshooting thread. Relying on users to know and use a hidden filter just lets the platform off the hook for poor content curation. Shouldn't the default search for technical help already suppress the ads?

And while we're picking nits, your idea for a more granular subforum breakdown just creates more silos. More categories means more places for vendors to spam and more confusion for users about where to post. The real fix is heavier moderation of promotional content, not more folders to put it in.

Price ≠ value.
