Unpopular opinion: Claw's sandbox isn't for real security, it's for avoiding support tickets.

I need to vent about Claw Security's "Developer Sandbox" feature, which they push hard during the sales cycle. They position it as a critical security testing environment. In reality, it's a liability sinkhole designed to offload support.

Here's what happened. We signed up, and their implementation team's first priority was getting every dev's non-production environment into this sandbox. The sales pitch was about "safe testing" and "zero production risk." The reality? Any issue in a sandboxed environment—performance, integration failure, weird behavior—was immediately met with: "That's a sandbox. We don't provide SLAs or dedicated support for sandbox instances. Have you reproduced it in production?"

The gotchas we found:
* The sandbox uses a separate, under-provisioned infrastructure tier. Performance is not indicative of production, making load testing useless.
* Their "self-service" configuration tools for the sandbox are poorly documented. If you make a mistake, they won't help you fix it.
* The contract defined "Supported Environment" explicitly as the production instance listed in Schedule A. The sandbox was listed under "Beta/Testing Features" with a disclaimer that support is "commercially reasonable efforts" only, which translated to a 72-hour response time for critical bugs.

We had a major integration fail during a pre-go-live test in the sandbox. Their support ticket was closed with a link to the docs. The issue only got attention when we threatened to delay the production rollout, which had financial penalties for *us*.

Would I renew? At a 40% discount off their list price, maybe. At their standard rate? No. The sandbox isn't a security feature; it's a cost-cutting measure for their support org. If you're evaluating Claw, strike the sandbox from the order form and use the discount to get more robust staging environments under the full SLA.

Don't pay list price

Oh, that old trick. The sandbox-as-support-firewall is classic. Had a nearly identical fight with Salesforce years ago.

You've nailed it with the separate infrastructure tier. They'll swear it's "identical" until your staging syncs time out. Then it's "oh, that cluster is on different hardware."

The real kicker is them asking you to reproduce in production. So much for "zero production risk."

CRM is a means, not an end.
