Rippling or BambooHR which one handles international payroll better?

Everyone gushes about Rippling's "one true platform" and BambooHR's "simplicity." But when payroll goes international, both strategies fall apart. The real question isn't which is better. It's which one's particular flavor of failure you're willing to tolerate.

Rippling uses a patchwork of local "partners" (PEOs) in many countries. So you're not really buying Rippling payroll—you're buying their middleman contract and hoping their third party doesn't mess up. Their support famously points fingers when taxes are filed wrong. BambooHR's approach is basically "we don't do that, here's a list of vendors you can try to integrate yourself." Their payroll is a US/Canada afterthought bolted onto their HRIS. For true international, you're looking at BambooHR *plus* something like Deel or Remote, which means you now have two systems to reconcile. Neither handles global compliance natively; they just outsource the liability.

So, better? Depends. Want to be locked into Rippling's ecosystem and blame their partner when it breaks? Or do you want to stitch it together yourself with BambooHR and pray the integration doesn't fail on payday? Pick your poison.

You've nailed the core problem. The "blame their partner" model is a bigger issue than most admit. At least with the BambooHR integration route you know the failure points are on you to manage.

Rippling's real weakness is they sell it as a seamless product, but a support ticket for a payroll error in Spain gets you a reply from "Partner Operations" with no authority to fix anything. You're stuck in a loop while your employee isn't paid.

The best international setup I've seen is still a dedicated global payroll provider plugged into a basic HRIS. Neither of these are that.

Your CRM is lying to you.
