We're a Series A startup with 15 engineers, and our AWS bill is now consistently over $40k/month. We're looking at Ramp and Brex to get control over cloud spend and simplify expense management. The pitch for both is strong on automated savings and visibility.
My primary evaluation criteria are:
* **AWS cost control:** Real-time anomaly detection, commitment coverage (Savings Plans/Reserved Instances), and actionable recommendations. We need to see this in the platform, not just get a monthly PDF.
* **Engineer workflow:** How well does it integrate with our existing CI/CD and provisioning (Terraform, CloudFormation)? Can engineers see cost impact at the point of deployment?
* **Reliability of sync:** We use NetSuite. I've seen tools where the general ledger sync breaks silently, and that's a non-starter.
* **Actual savings vs. noise:** I want to see benchmarks or concrete examples of savings they've identified for similar tech stacks.
Has anyone implemented either tool in a similar environment? I'm particularly interested in:
* The quality of the AWS spend analysis. Does it drill down to EKS cluster/namespace level or Lambda function cold starts?
* How you integrated it with your provisioning pipeline. Any Terraform modules or configs to share?
* Any issues with reconciliation, especially around tagging compliance and untagged resource handling.
Post any relevant dashboard snippets or config examples if you have them. I'll be reviewing the API documentation and running a proof-of-concept, but real-world operational feedback is what I need.
