Hey everyone 👋 I’m pretty new to managing our own email infrastructure. The number of tools and metrics out there is honestly overwhelming.
I finally got a Grafana dashboard set up to visualize our Postfix logs – mostly focusing on bounces, deferrals, and queue sizes. It’s already helping me spot issues faster. I’ve shared the basic config below in case it helps anyone else who’s just starting out.
Here’s the core of my Prometheus query for bounce rates:
`rate(postfix_smtpd_bounce_total[5m])`
And for the dashboard JSON, I kept it simple with a stat panel for current queue and a time series graph for deferrals by domain.
It’s not perfect, but it’s a start. Would love any tips on what else I should be tracking for deliverability health.
