Okay, I’ll admit I’m still pretty new to Versa Networks, coming from a background with more traditional CLI-driven platforms. But I’ve been working with the Versa GUI for a few weeks now on a pilot deployment, and I’m finding it slower for quick config changes than I expected.
Maybe I’m missing something, but tasks like adjusting a simple firewall rule or checking a route seem to take way more clicks and page loads than just typing a few CLI commands. It feels like the GUI adds a layer of abstraction that doesn't always help when you just need to get something done fast. Does anyone else feel this way, or is there a trick to speeding up workflows in the GUI?
Trying to figure it out.
I timed myself on both interfaces last month during a maintenance window. For a simple firewall rule reorder, the CLI took about 18 seconds from login to confirmation. The GUI workflow, with its page loads and modal dialogs, averaged 52 seconds. That's a significant latency tax for routine work.
The GUI's strength is visual topology and reporting dashboards, not iterative config changes. For rapid edits, I keep a terminal session open specifically for that purpose. I'd be curious if your pilot deployment has the CLI access fully enabled - sometimes it's tucked away.
