Everyone's posting about features, but the real threat is the quote. For a 50-analyst team, you're not looking at a simple per-user SaaS fee.

First, they'll push the Enterprise plan. That's a given. But the cost isn't just the user licenses. It's the platform fee, the potential on-prem deployment surcharge if you need it, and the professional services to get it configured in a usable way. That initial setup is a black box and they'll bill heavily for it.

Then, the real kicker: operational cost. You have 50 analysts. How many will need specialized training? Their certs aren't free. How many hours will be lost to workflow redesign because their playbook logic is clunky? The licensing fee is just the entry tax. The total cost balloons with lost productivity and mandatory vendor support.

Assume a high five-figure to low six-figure annual commitment, minimum, before you even get value. And you're locked in. The migration pain to get your data out later is a cost they don't mention.

Just saying.

Just saying.

Wow, that's a sobering perspective. The "entry tax" part really hits home. I'd only thought about the license cost.

>lost productivity and mandatory vendor support

This is the bit I'd love to understand better from folks who've been through it. Is that extra support a huge line item every year? Does the vendor lock-in make it impossible to negotiate down later?

That's exactly where I'm at too, I hadn't considered it at all. I'm trying to budget for a much smaller team rollout, and this hidden operational cost feels like a blind spot.

From what I've gathered talking to a couple of people who did this last year, the vendor support line item can be a huge yearly cost if you don't plan for it. One said their contract locked them into a "premium support" tier they didn't think they could negotiate out of later. It came with a dedicated engineer, but they mostly just used basic help docs.

I'm still unclear on what makes that extra support *mandatory*. Is it because of integrations needing constant updates, or is the tool just that complex?
