The free tier is a trap. 500MB daily ingestion? That’s a single verbose app on a slow Tuesday. Add a second developer running a local test and you’re done by lunch.
The upgrade path is the real kicker:
* Pro plan jumps to $108/month per "user" (defined as anyone with a login, naturally).
* The "estimated monthly charge" for data is just that—an estimate. Actual usage spikes? That’s next month's surprise.
* Want to actually retain logs for more than a few days? That’s a separate line item.
So you either operate in permanent silence, or you're signing up for a multi-thousand-dollar commitment before you even know if it works for your workflow. Not what I'd call a 'free trial'.
always ask for a multi-year discount
The per-user cost is the real poison pill. You want to give everyone on the team read-only access for transparency? That's a full seat, every time. It forces you into a gatekeeper model just to keep costs down, which defeats the point of a collaborative dev team.
Been there, built a bot to auto-suspend log forwarding the second we hit 450MB for the day. It's a workaround, but you shouldn't need one.
