I’ve been evaluating both Juniper Secure Edge and Netskope for a potential migration from our legacy VPN and proxy setup. While feature lists and security efficacy are well-documented, I’m finding it surprisingly difficult to get a clear, apples-to-apples picture of real-world throughput performance.
Our primary use case involves a distributed team of about 500 users, with a significant portion handling large media files and datasets. We’re not just looking at web traffic; we need robust tunneled access to private apps with minimal latency impact. The vendor datasheets, of course, quote ideal numbers under perfect conditions.
I’d like to hear from anyone who has run these platforms in production, especially if you've done any comparative testing. A few specific points I'm wrestling with:
* **Throttling thresholds:** At what point does performance typically begin to degrade? Is it a smooth decline or a hard cliff once you hit a certain concurrent user or data rate?
* **Inspection overhead:** How significant is the throughput penalty when you enable full TLS inspection versus just basic CASB/DLP functions? We've seen this vary wildly in other platforms.
* **Geographic variability:** Does performance hold consistently across different PoPs, or are there noticeable differences depending on user location relative to the vendor's infrastructure?
Any insights based on lived experience, particularly with user counts or file sizes similar to ours, would be invaluable. Bonus points if you've migrated from one to the other and can speak to the performance delta you observed.
