ELI5: What's the difference between a Service Connection and a Remote Network?

Hey everyone, I've been diving into Prisma Access for our remote work setup and finally feel like I've wrapped my head around Service Connections and Remote Networks. They sound similar on the surface—both connect things to the Prisma Access cloud—but they serve totally different purposes. Let me break down how I've started to think about them.

A **Service Connection** is like a dedicated, secure line from your on-premises data center (or maybe your main office network) *to* the Prisma Access cloud infrastructure. Its main job is to let your on-prem firewalls (the Panorama or Next-Gen Firewall managers) talk to the Prisma Access cloud so you can push security policies, get logs, and manage everything centrally. You're essentially extending your management plane to the cloud. Without this, you couldn't tell Prisma Access what to do.

A **Remote Network**, on the other hand, is about connecting a *branch office* or a *static remote site* (like a small retail location with its own local network) into the Prisma Access cloud securely. It's not for management, but for user traffic. That branch's traffic gets an encrypted tunnel (IPSec) to the nearest Prisma Access point of presence, where your security policies are applied before it heads out to the internet or to other corporate resources. It's replacing a traditional VPN concentrator at HQ.

So in practice: You use a **Service Connection** so your headquarters IT team can manage Prisma Access. You use **Remote Networks** to give your branch offices secure internet and app access via the Prisma Access cloud, instead of backhauling everything to HQ. One is for management traffic, the other is for user/branch traffic.

Hope that clears it up! It clicked for me when I pictured the Service Connection as the "admin tunnel" and the Remote Network as a "branch user tunnel." Anyone else have a different analogy that helped them?
