I'm less concerned about Perimeter 81 matching an NGFW's raw session table depth in a single PoP. That's the wrong benchmark. Their 2026 ranking hinges on proving that their distributed control plane can pool capacity across hundreds of PoPs, so no single location becomes a bottleneck. The performance metric that matters is consistent, low-latency session establishment globally, not the peak throughput of one node.

If they can't transparently show how their session handling scales, you're right, it remains just a promise. But asking them for a single-number appliance comparison might be asking them to play by the old rules.
