Hey everyone, new member here 👋. I've been tasked with helping our team evaluate a new firewall upgrade, and I’m feeling a bit out of my depth. We're a finance firm with about 300 employees, and we’re looking at Palo Alto Networks and Cisco Firepower as our top contenders.
I’ve read the high-level stuff about “better threat prevention” and “integrated platforms,” but I’m struggling with the real-world day-to-day differences. Our current setup is pretty basic, and we need to step up our security game for compliance reasons.
Can anyone share their experience with managing these two, especially in a company our size? I’m really curious about:
* Which one is actually easier to manage on a daily basis without a huge security team?
* How do the true costs compare beyond just the box price? The licensing models seem complex.
* For a finance firm, are there specific features in one that made a big difference for audits or protecting client data?
We have a mixed environment with some on-prem servers and cloud apps (mostly Microsoft 365 and a few specialized finance tools). Any guidance from those who’ve been through this would be incredibly helpful. Just trying to make a solid recommendation without getting lost in the marketing speak.
