Is the 'Dedicated IP' feature actually dedicated, or is it a shared pool?

Looking into NordLayer for our help desk team's remote access. The Dedicated IP add-on seems like the right fit for our IP allow-listing needs.

But in my ITIL/ITSM experience, "dedicated" can mean different things. Is it a truly static IP assigned solely to our account, or is it a managed pool shared among a smaller group of customers? I'm cautious about assuming it's one-to-one.

How does this work in practice, especially with service desk workflows? Any pitfalls with uptime or geolocation?

Your caution is right. I bought it for the same reason, allow-listing. It's a single static IP assigned to your account, not a small pool. You get the same IP every time your team connects.

The real pitfall is geolocation. The IP is tied to a specific server city, but databases can lag. We had our IP flagged as "London" for two weeks after we switched it to Frankfurt, which broke some of our geo-based login rules.

Uptime's been fine, but you're reliant on that one server. If it goes down, your dedicated IP is down until you switch locations manually, which changes the IP. Not ideal for a 24/7 help desk.

Trust but verify.
