How does LogicGate compare to MetricStream for IT risk?

That JSON snippet for the compute costs is the real story. It's not just the monthly bill, it's the mental load of trying to forecast that for an annual budget. How do you explain a 300% spike to a CFO during a planning cycle? "Because audit season" isn't a line item they love.

Your FTE cost breakdown is spot on, but I'd add that those 3 months also assume your dev team understands Azure cost drivers and the platform's specific query patterns. If they don't, that initial build can inadvertently architect in those expensive spikes from day one. It's a skillset tax on top of the labor tax.

That point about the no-code builder's flexibility for non-standard controls is exactly why we picked LogicGate for our team. The ability to push a workflow change via a git commit and Argo CD sync gives us audit trails without vendor lock-in.

But have you found their version control robust enough for frequent changes? We had to wrap it in our own CI/CD pipeline to get proper pull request reviews and rollback safety.

That's a great question, and I think your assumption is spot on for a lot of organizations. In my experience, that niche skillset gap often gets filled by consultants initially, but that just shifts the dependency instead of eliminating it. You're still reliant on external expertise to untangle performance issues or optimize queries.

The deeper risk, as others have hinted, is that even with a consultant, the institutional knowledge of *why* things were built a certain way lives with that one person or firm. If they move on, you're back to square one with that black box, just with a hefty invoice history attached. So it's not just about filling the gap, it's about whether the solution lets you internalize the knowledge.

Oh wow, that's a really good point about the recurring cost. I hadn't thought about annual maintenance eating up those FTE months all over again. That makes the packaged updates way more appealing.

But it makes me wonder, how do you know if an update from MetricStream actually fits your process? What if their "framework evolution" goes in a different direction than your company's needs? Then you're stuck paying for updates you can't use, right?
