Hey everyone! 👋 Just wrapped up our first year on Lacework's enterprise plan for our ~200 person dev team, and I wanted to share some real-world pricing feedback since that was our biggest question mark going in.
Overall, the platform's visibility into our multi-cloud setup (AWS & GCP) has been fantastic for our AppSec workflows. The catch? The bill. Our consumption felt... unpredictable. We knew it was based on data intake, but some months we'd see a 30% spike without a corresponding increase in activity we could pinpoint. Support was helpful and pointed to new workloads and increased API calls, but forecasting for finance became a headache.
A few specifics from our experience:
* **The good:** The unified dashboard saved us from tool sprawl. Agent-based and agentless coverage worked as advertised for our containers and cloud accounts.
* **The watch-out:** We learned we had to be **super** proactive with policy tuning and filtering out "noise" (like our non-prod environments) to keep data ingestion in check. This isn't a set-and-forget system cost-wise.
* **The ask:** I'd love a clearer "credit" system or more granular billing alerts within the platform itself. We ended up building some internal monitors just to avoid surprises.
For other teams considering it: the value is absolutely there for automated compliance and vulnerability management, but you need to bake ongoing cost optimization into your operational routine. Has anyone else on an enterprise plan found effective strategies to smooth out those monthly cost variations? Or explored how their newer pricing models work?
Always testing.
