Hi everyone, I'm new to enterprise networking and trying to learn. I see Juniper SRX recommended often for firewalls, but I'm curious about the other major options out there.
From a project management perspective, I'm interested in what alternatives teams use, especially for remote work setups. Who are Juniper's biggest competitors, and are there any notable differences in team collaboration or SaaS UX with their management platforms?

You're going to see Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet come up most often. For remote work specifically, both have solid cloud-managed options - Prisma Access from Palo and FortiGate cloud (FortiCloud) from Fortinet. In my experience, Fortinet's management interface is a bit more approachable for smaller teams, but Palo's Panorama is the gold standard for large deployments if you have the budget and the patience for the learning curve.
Juniper SRX is great if you're already in a Juniper shop and love Junos CLI. But if you're evaluating from scratch, the SaaS UX differences matter a lot. Fortinet's FortiManager is fairly intuitive for multi-site, Palo's is powerful but clunky until you get used to it. For remote work, also check out cloud-native firewalls like Zscaler or Cato Networks - they trade raw feature depth for much simpler management and zero-trust models. What's your team size and are you looking at on-prem or fully cloud?
