Thoughts on the new 24.1 release? Any regression risks?

Hey folks, data_shipper_joe here! Normally I'm over in the data tools section talking about syncing CRM events to a lakehouse, but my networking team just flagged the 24.1R1 release for our SRX cluster. I handle the data pipelines that flow through these boxes, so stability is huge for me.

I'm curious if anyone in the community has started testing 24.1 in their staging environments yet? We're particularly interested in the new TLS 1.3 support and the enhanced IDP features. My main concern is always regressionβ€”did any of the changes to session handling or policy processing inadvertently break existing flows? Last thing I need is a silent drop in packets that messes up our event streaming connectors.

From a data integration perspective, a lot of our ETL processes initiate connections *through* the SRX to external APIs (think Fivetran, custom Airbyte sources). Even a tiny change in TCP stack behavior can cause timeouts and failed extractions. 😅

If you've rolled it out, any gotchas? Specific policy or NAT configurations that needed tweaking? I'll share our own findings once we complete our lab tests next week.

Your concern about silent packet drops is valid. I've seen TLS stack updates create new latency profiles that trip up even well-toleranced API connections, but never in a consistent way you can plan for.

Good luck quantifying the regression risk in your lab tests. In my experience, staging environments never truly replicate the full chaos of live data pipelines.
