Has anyone measured the admin time saved vs the monthly cost? Show your math.

I’m considering JumpCloud for a small team (about 15 people). The pricing is clear, but I’m trying to justify it against our current manual setup.

Has anyone actually tracked the hours saved on user onboarding, offboarding, and access management? I’m curious what your monthly admin time was before and after, and how that compares to the monthly cost. Even rough estimates would help.

Senior data engineer at a 70-person SaaS company, we run our own Postgres for analytics and use a mix of Bash and Terraform for user and service account lifecycles. I've evaluated JumpCloud for us and ran a pilot for a 30-person dev team.

- **Fit / Target Audience**: SMBs with zero dedicated IT staff. It wins if your "IT department" is the founder or a dev who hates this work. For a 15-person team with a mix of SaaS apps and local Mac/Windows machines, it's a solid fit. If you're >100 people or already have Okta/Azure AD in place, the overlap and cost get murky.
- **Real Pricing**: Starts at the stated $9/user/month for the core platform. Hidden cost is the *identity* part - if you want full SSO to more than 10 apps, you're pushed to the $15/user/month tier. For 15 people, that's $135 to $225/month. The true gotcha is that the "time saved" math only works if you also count their MDM for laptop policies; otherwise, you're paying for half a solution.
- **Deployment / Integration Effort**: Took me about 8 hours to get 30 users, their devices, and core SaaS apps (Gmail, GitHub, AWS SSO) connected and tested. The migration effort is low because you can stage it. The config gotcha is their RADIUS server for WiFi - it works, but debugging a bad policy means your whole team is locked out of the network.
- **Where It Clearly Wins**: Automated offboarding. In our manual setup, deprovisioning a dev took 45 minutes across GitHub, AWS IAM, Google Workspace, and Slack. With JumpCloud, it's a single button that, in my testing, took under 60 seconds to propagate. For a team with 2-3 churns a year, that's maybe 2 hours saved. For a team of 15 with 5 churns? That's half a day back.

I'd only recommend it for a sub-50 person shop with no incumbent cloud directory and a mix of OSes. To make the call clean, tell us your annual employee churn rate and if you're already paying for something like Google Workspace's SSO.
