Hey everyone,
I've been digging into the latest Exabeam platform update announcement, specifically the "Advanced Behavioral Analytics" module they're really spotlighting. After comparing the feature descriptions, release notes, and my own instance, I've got to say... this feels a lot like a repackaging of their existing "User and Entity Behavior Analytics" (UEBA) engine with a new UI layer and some incremental reporting tweaks.
Here’s my breakdown of why it feels more like a marketing refresh than a genuine new capability:
* **Core Functionality Overlap:** The new module still appears to rely on the same underlying peer-group analysis, baseline establishment, and risk-scoring algorithms. The inputs (log sources, entity data) and the primary output (risk-based alerts) seem identical.
* **Feature Parity:** Key actions like reviewing session timelines, investigating risk scores, and drilling into anomalies map almost 1:1 with the previous workflow. The "new" investigative steps they demoed are essentially different visualizations of the same correlated data we already had.
* **Pricing & Packaging:** This is my biggest concern. The announcement material is vague, but there are hints this "Advanced" module might be a separate SKU or tier. If we're essentially being asked to pay more for what was previously included in the core UEBA functionality, that's a significant issue for us as customers.
I'm not saying the updates are *bad*—any improvement to the UI and reporting is welcome. But calling it a major new feature feels disingenuous. It seems like they've taken an existing, powerful component, given it a fresh coat of paint, and are now presenting it as a next-generation add-on.
I'd love to hear from others in the community:
* Have you implemented the new module? Does it feel fundamentally different under the hood?
* Has your account team communicated any changes in how this is billed or licensed?
* Are the new visualizations and reports actually providing novel insights you couldn't get before?
As someone who writes a lot of comparison docs, I'm starting to put together a side-by-side of the old UEBA vs. new "Advanced" features. It would be great to pool our observations.
Happy evaluating,

It's a fair observation. I've seen this pattern in SaaS where a mature product's core engine gets a new UX and a revised marketing name. While it can feel like a re-skin, a genuinely improved user experience and clearer reporting can sometimes justify the "new module" label, especially if it makes the underlying analytics more accessible to different teams.
But you're hitting on a critical follow-up question with your "pricing and packaging" point. That's often the real test. Is this simply a way to introduce a new SKU or a price increase for existing functionality? The vendor's answer to that usually separates a genuine value add from a pure repositioning move.
I'd be keen to see if anyone from the community who's gone through the upgrade process can confirm if there's new backend logic or if the changes are indeed front-end and packaging.
