I’ve been watching the discussions here about streamlining compliance workflows, and I wanted to share a specific integration use case our team has been running successfully for several quarters. We’ve managed to automate a previously manual and time-consuming process: employee training attestations for ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
The core of the setup links Drata with our HRIS, Lever. Here's the flow:
1. A new hire's start date in Lever triggers the creation of their profile in Drata.
2. Drata automatically assigns the required security awareness training (we use a custom module) to that employee.
3. Once the training is completed in the training platform (separate from Drata), we mark it complete in the employee's Drata profile.
4. This is the key part: Drata then automatically generates and sends the legal attestation document (that they've completed the training) via HelloSign for us. The employee signs it, and the signed document is automatically filed as evidence in the correct control folder.
The biggest win for us hasn't just been the time saved chasing signatures, but the audit trail. The entire narrative—from training assignment, to completion, to attestation request, to signed proof—is connected and visible in one place for our auditors.
I'm curious if others have built similar automation bridges, particularly between Drata and other HR systems like BambooHR or Workday. What parts of the employee onboarding/compliance cycle have you managed to automate, and were there any unexpected hurdles?
