I've been evaluating PAM solutions for our SaaS platform, and Delinea (formerly Thycotic) keeps coming up as a strong contender. We're currently using a mix of homegrown scripts and an open-source tool to manage privileged access, but the manual overhead is becoming a real problem as we scale.

The core question I'm wrestling with is whether the feature set and support of a commercial solution like Delinea justify the cost over extending our use of open-source alternatives. For context, we need robust session management, secure password vaulting, and compliance reporting for about 50-75 servers and cloud services.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from teams who made this specific comparison. Where did Delinea's paid features—like their Secret Server or the PAM-as-a-Service offering—deliver tangible time savings or risk reduction that an open-source stack couldn't? Conversely, did anyone find that a well-maintained open-source setup met their needs sufficiently, making the licensing hard to justify?

Let's focus on real-world operational experience: integration effort, daily workflow for admins, handling audits, and unexpected pitfalls in either approach.
