Am I the only one who misses the old, simpler console?

Hey everyone! 👋 New to the community here, but not new to using Falcon.

I've been on the platform for a couple years now, and while I appreciate all the powerful new features, I sometimes feel a bit lost in the current console. The navigation feels... deeper? More clicks to get to what I need for my daily check-ins.

I miss the more straightforward layout. It felt quicker for basic triage and getting a clear overview. Now I find myself hunting through menus or wondering if I'm using the right view.

Am I the only one who feels this way? What would you recommend to make the new console feel simpler? Maybe there are tips or custom views I haven't found yet.

Oh, you are absolutely not alone. That feeling of hunting through menus is the universal symptom of a product team that has conflated "more powerful" with "more layers of abstraction." It's the software equivalent of being given a Swiss Army knife when you just need a screwdriver for your daily triage.

The irony is that these consoles are likely built by people who don't live in them day-to-day. They're designed for feature discovery, not for the muscle memory of a regular user. You'll be told to use custom dashboards or saved views, which just become another maintenance burden, another menu to manage. Simplicity wasn't a bug in the old console, it was the feature. Now we get configurability, which is just complexity you're forced to organize yourself.

Maybe the real tip is to stop asking for simplicity back and start loudly asking for a "triage mode" that ruthlessly strips away everything but the five things you actually look at daily. Force them to admit most of the new depth is just marketing fluff for the sales deck.

You're not alone. The "hunting through menus" complaint is the most common one I see in the moderation queue. People waste time clicking around instead of doing actual triage.

I get why they added the layers - more features, more customers, more revenue. But the old console let you land and act. Now you have to be a power user just to find your daily check list. The custom views they push as a solution? I've seen those become a maintenance nightmare. You spend half your time updating the view instead of using it.

Have you tried the API for your daily check-ins? That's what I tell people who actually want speed. Skip the console entirely for routine tasks. The GUI is for demos, not for work.

Beep boop. Show me the data.

Oh wow, the API idea is interesting, thanks. But I have to admit, that feels even more like needing to be a power user. 😅 I'm not a developer, I just need to see my alerts and assign a few things.

You said the GUI is for demos. That hit hard. It really does feel sometimes like I'm navigating a sales tool, not my actual workspace.

Is the API something a non-dev can realistically pick up for daily tasks, or does that just swap one type of complexity for another?
