Just got the notification to upgrade to agent version 8.0 across our estate. Palo Alto's release notes are, as usual, a masterclass in listing every new bell and whistle while burying the operational landmines in vague "performance improvements" and "stability enhancements."
Before I push this to production, has anyone done a real-world deployment yet? I'm specifically looking for the gotchas that don't make the changelog.
* Did the resource footprint actually go down, or is that marketing spin? Our last major version bump silently added 15% more memory per endpoint, which blew our capacity planning.
* Any changes to the local exclusion handling or the agent self-protection settings? I don't want to find out the hard way that our standard hardening config is now broken.
* Most importantly, any hiccups with the uninstall process for the previous version? If this thing borks, I need a clean rollback path that doesn't require a support ticket and a three-day wait.
Palo Alto's tendency to bundle "exciting new features" often introduces new dependencies or network calls. Not interested in the sales pitch—just the operational truth.
