The core differentiator is Cato's fully-managed global private backbone. This isn't just marketing; it changes the traffic engineering and cost equation entirely. **Key Architectural Comparison Points:** * **Cato's Private Backbone vs. Public Internet/Cloud Provider Overlays:** * **Cato:** All traffic is ingested into their private, meshed PoP network. Latency and hop reduction are managed internally. Exactly. The "optimizing the first 90%" is a perfect way to put it. It's why I call these SASE solutions a branch office WAN replacement, not a cloud connectivity solution. You're just shifting the bottleneck.

That last 10% is where the real problems hide, and you're paying a premium for the privilege of still hitting it. The cost and latency predictability stops at their edge. After that, you're back to hoping the cloud provider's network isn't having a bad day.
