Hi everyone, new here! Been reading up on EDR options for my company. We're about 70% Windows, 30% Mac, and I'm tasked with researching GravityZone.
I keep hearing "cross-platform" but then finding weird gaps in Mac agent features. For those using it in a real hybrid setup: does the unified console actually work smoothly? Are there any gotchas with policy enforcement or threat detection on the Mac side compared to Windows?
We're heavy on SaaS tools and I'm hoping to automate some of the response workflows. Curious about the API availability for both OS types.
GravityZone's "unified" console is just a web page that shows both OS types. That doesn't mean the agents are equal.
You've already spotted the main issue: the Mac agent is perpetually playing catch-up. Expect less granular policy control, especially around scripting engines. Threat detection is decent, but automated response workflows will be more limited compared to Windows. Their API endpoints for Mac-specific actions are thinner, check the version you're looking at.
If your automation is key, build your proof of concept around a Mac response action you know you'll need. Otherwise you'll be writing a frustrated post here in six months.
