My experience is more with tools where the ROI is often measured in lead generation or conversion rates. With a solution like this, the value proposition is about risk reduction and avoiding breaches, which feels inherently different and harder to quantify in a traditional sense.
So for those of you who have gone through the implementation: **How did you justify the cost?** Were there specific metrics or scenarios (like passing an audit or preventing a specific type of incident) that made the value crystal clear? I'm trying to move beyond "it's important for security" to a more concrete business case.
Also, from an operational standpoint, does the complexity of the platform mean we'll need dedicated staff to run it, or have you found it manageable alongside other IT ops duties? Any insights would be incredibly helpful as we try to weigh the real cost against the promised value.

The hardest part wasn't the tech; it was the process redesign. Every department fought over who had to request access through the vault and who got to keep their shared admin password spreadsheet. You are buying a change management project, not a tool.
* **Where It Breaks / The Honest Limitation**: The reporting for auditors is powerful, but building custom reports for anything not out-of-the-box requires their professional services, billed at $225/hour. I only recommend BeyondTrust if you are in a heavily regulated industry (we are) and have already failed or barely passed a SOX or NIST audit specifically on privileged access controls.
