Hey everyone, I've been using Workiva for a couple years at my small firm, mostly for basic compliance tracking. We're considering a switch to AuditBoard because the pricing seems more scalable for our growth.

I'm deep in the planning stage and worried about the data migration part. What are the big gotchas? I use a lot of spreadsheets and have workflows in Zapier connected to Workiva. Does AuditBoard play nice with no-code automations like that?

Also, is there anything that just doesn't transfer well? I've heard the taxonomy and risk assessment structures can be very different. Would love any real-world tips before I dive in 😅

Oh man, I've been through a similar migration from Workiva to AuditBoard about a year ago. On the Zapier front, you're going to hit a wall. AuditBoard's API is much more locked down than Workiva's. I had a bunch of Zapier automations that fed data from spreadsheets into Workiva, and most of them broke. AuditBoard does have a native integration with Zapier, but it's limited to a few triggers and actions - mostly around creating/updating issues and audits. You'll probably have to rebuild those workflows from scratch.

The big gotcha for me was the taxonomy and risk assessment structure. Workiva's is pretty flat and flexible, AuditBoard is more hierarchical and opinionated. I had to re-map all my risk categories, and the control libraries didn't map cleanly. We ended up doing a partial manual export to CSV, then cleaning it up before importing. Don't expect a direct 1:1 migration.

Also, if you've got a lot of linked spreadsheets or embedded data in Workiva, those don't come over. AuditBoard is more of a standalone platform. How do you plan to handle the evidence files? Exporting from Workiva can be a pain if you've got hundreds of attachments.
